"That which is not shared together, will be left for someone else to carry - a burden transferred."

Burden transfer occurs, when a difficult experience cannot be encountered and
processed, but is passed down to the next generation as an emotional inheritance.
When silenced, the burden is concealed in the dormant layers of the psyche, wherefrom it is projected on the mindscape and the interactions of the carrier and continues its journey as an internal shadow from generation to generation. The
phenomenon is also referred to as the transgenerational trauma.

The nature of burden transfer is layered: it has genetic, individual, communal and
societal echoes. Furthermore, it encompasses the multidimensionality of time, as the past and the future are intertwined with the present. In these cycles of time, a portal
for renewal can be found: by facing the past it is possible to break the chain of transfer, to change the patterning. Only then can the causality be broken and the future generation be set free.
