Milja Laine is a Helsinki based illustrator with degrees in visual arts (MAA) and ecology (University of Helsinki). She has a background in environmental education, and nature connectedness is at the core of her artistic practices.

Laine creates mainly illustrated mainly nature education publications and magazines. She favors hand-made illustrations using mostly pencils and watercolors, but also applies collage and digital techniques in her work.

Laine's personal projects are often photo-based and extended with text or found objects. She recurrently visits the themes of vulnerability, otherness and impermanence. Her artwork tends to have a touch of surreal, yet she always delights in beauty of the ordinary.

Since 2012 Laine's illustrations have been published in various education materials, magazines and children's books. Her artwork has also been on display in group exhibitions in Amsterdam, Madrid and around Finland.
